Art Alive Gallery presents Past Forward, a solo show of recent works by Anjaneyulu G. Belonging to Telangana, Anjaneyulu explores remnants of the past, propelling them forward into the present to examine the impact of history on contemporary times. Vessels and objects of the past and present dominate his canvases rendered in a hyper realistic approach. Through the juxtaposition of objects, he aims to capture a dialogue between heritage and contemporary culture.
Past Forward
The past has always played a role in informing the present and impacting the future. Anjaneyulu G’s recent body of works in the exhibition, Past Forward explores this intersection of past and present, tradition and innovation. In his hyper-realistic visual imagery, the artist juxtaposes objects from different eras creating a new narrative. Traditional bronze objects with their rich patina and subtle imperfections are placed alongside modern stainless steel pieces with mirror-like surfaces to foster a dialogue between the tales and memories of the past and modern existence.
By composing these distinct objects in a shared space, Anjaneyulu invites the viewer to contemplate the ways in which our past informs our present, and how tradition can be reimagined and reinterpreted in a contemporary context. His paintings are a celebration of the beauty and significance of shared cultural heritage, and the ways in which it continues to inspire and influence till date.
“We are very excited to mark the beginning of a new art season with two solo shows, Cabinet of Curiosities presenting recent works by Vipul Rathod and Past Forward, exhibiting recent works by Anjaneyulu G. Having distinct art practices, it is rather interesting to see how both the artists explore different themes through the metaphor of objects. While Anjaneyulu is exploring the impact of past on the present, Vipul’s art is a response to contemporary modern existence. I am sure the viewers will resonate with their new body of works.”
