Tucked away in the bylanes of the Pink City, Padmaa, Jaipur welcomes you with a quiet embrace of culture, history, and understated luxury. Step inside and the pace of the city instantly softens; time seems to slow, the air feels lighter, and every corner holds a whisper of stories past. The verandah with its lotus marble inlay flooring, the intricate ornamentation on the walls, and the rose quartz façade above, every detail sits in serene contrast to the bustle beyond the gates.
This boutique property carries with it a long and intimate history. Once a thriving jewellery workshop on the lively Chaura Rasta, it gradually transformed into a cherished family home, a space that has witnessed love, traditions, and celebrations across seven generations. When time weathered its walls, the newest generation breathed fresh life into it, restoring every corner as a heartfelt tribute to their grandmother, Shrimati Padmaa Devi Shah. Named in her honour, the home reflects her warmth, devotion, and the spirit of care with which she nurtured both family and space.

An extremely short flight away from Delhi, I reached Jaipur in the wee hours of the morning, excited to stay in the ‘walled city’ of Jaipur, a place that hums with energy and colour at every turn. I’m fairly familiar with this city and its charms but this time felt different because of that. After a flight, a car ride, and finally a tuktuk weaving through the narrow bylanes, I stood before a wooden door that has stood for nearly 300 years — as old as the home itself. There, I paused, curious and impatient to discover the world within. A warm welcome awaited me: the staff ushered me in with aam panna and gentle smiles.
Two flights of spiral steps later, I got to my suite tucked beside the Champa Chowk; a small courtyard on the second floor linking two suites. True to its name, the chowk is crowned with fragrant champa blossoms spilling across the roof, their presence adding a quiet romance to the space.

The rooms at Padmaa, Jaipur are big and very tastefully done. From the block printed walls to the furnishings to antique cupboards, tiles, double door details, and even old frames keep you close to the history of the place.
Modernism enters the door with the lights and other necessary details to make a guest comfortable. Excited to know more about this splendid place, I made my downstairs to meet the team. Yudhistir Singh, the Operations Manager met me with folded hands and gentle smile. We quickly discussed my plan for the day before I settled for a hearty first meal of the day at the restaurant.

The courtyard restaurant at Padmaa in Jaipur, also called Padmaa, serves only vegetarian food with the option of eggs, as the Shah Family belongs to the Jain community and wishes to honor their traditions. They offer both Indian and international dishes. I noticed the food is less spicy but well-flavored. The Rajasthani thali, featuring gatta curry, ker sangria, and their signature dal baati choorma, was truly spectacular. Of course, a trip to Jaipur isn’t complete without trying kachori and meethi lassi. While the courtyard restaurant doesn’t serve these directly, the staff will gladly arrange them for you from a renowned nearby place if you ask. Other dishes I enjoyed included the beetroot galouti, bharwa mushroom, and malai kulfi.

Padmaa, Jaipur, is also home to a hidden gem painted in red, located next to the main restaurant. Not yet open to the public, this stunning courtyard bar will welcome guests from next month. Expect a heritage ambiance featuring rich red hues, wooden flooring, and deco-style floor inlays. Marble tables, red walls, and dim lighting add dramatic flair. Imagine relaxing in a 300-year-old haveli, enjoying your favorite drink amidst lush interiors and jazz music. Both the bar and bartender, Surya Singh Shekhawat, show great promise.

The Roof-Top Bar will soon open to guests, offering beautiful sunsets and panoramic views of Jaipur’s skyline. Guests can look forward to memorable sundowners accompanied by a curated selection of cocktails and wines.
The hotel also features a rooftop spa with a plunge pool, adding to the luxury of your stay.
Located in one of India’s five most visited cities, the hotel stays competitive by providing curated experiences that immerse you in authentic Jaipur. During my visit, they organized a delightful excursion to the historic Hawa Mahal, situated in the heart of the city, as well as an exhilarating morning safari at Jhalana Reserve, home to over 40 leopards, along with deer, birds, and peacocks.
The strength of Padmaa, Jaipur, is its people. The staff's impeccable manners truly stand out. While Rajasthan is renowned for its hospitality thanks to the many tourists it welcomes annually, the team at Padmaa goes above and beyond, noting every request or comment you share. What truly stands out is their eagerness for genuine feedback—and their readiness to implement real changes based on your suggestions, ensuring each guest feels valued and cared for. Monica at the front desk deserves a special mention for her quiet attentiveness, always looking out for us from behind the scenes.
