'Designer and artist Raghavendra Rathore presented The Listening Heart at the India Art Fair, a contemplative work that marks a rare public expression of his artistic voice. Moving beyond disciplines, the piece reflects his enduring engagement with memory, material, and the emotional life of objects, shaped by years of quiet observation.
The Listening Heart is a singular wall-mounted work that exists between image, object, and quiet electric presence. It began as a hand-drawn pencil portrait, later coloured and screen transferred onto a wooden surface that houses embedded electronics. These control a gently moving element, a flashing LED, and a faint beeping signal arranged in a jigsaw-like geometry, with exposed wiring adding a contemporary layer.
The monochromatic portrait draws from ancestral archives, blending the essence of significant women across the artist’s lineage into a single figure. An antique-finished brass ground integrates with the metallic infrastructure, balancing heritage and modernity. Conceived as a one-of-one work, it privileges authorship, restraint, and rarity for discerning private collections.
Reflecting on the work, Raghavendra Rathore said, 'I have always believed that objects carry memory. This piece is about listening to those inherited voices allowing the past to breathe gently within the present, without spectacle, only presence.'
With this presentation, Rathore extends his creative practice into the realm of fine art, offering a work that speaks with intimacy and restraint, inviting viewers to engage with time, lineage, and the quiet inner life of form.'
