Be it the great Mira Nair whose most interesting anecdotes enthralled us and our audience at The Playground - Platform’s 20 year celebration, or The Only City, an anthology of stories set in Mumbai edited by Anindita Ghose, featuring writers such as Prayaag Akbar, Manu Joseph, Shanta Gokhale, Ranjit Hoskote, Jeet Thayil and many more, or the culmination of one of the most renowned graphic designers David Carson, with The Macallan, or artist Sohrab Hura’s art series titled The Forest, that features memories from his own reality. The issue does not stop there. It also shines a spotlight on promising debutants as well, who are ready to share their artistry with the world. The First Film, Piyush Thakur’s short directorial debut, already won him two major National Awards this year for its direction and music. Eshani Surya’s literary debut, Ravishing takes pages from her life and highlights the complexities of growing up brown in the West, chronic illness, communal care, and dissects our understanding of what’s beautiful and what’s ugly. And there are many more interesting conversations and visual presentations to keep you engaged.
