Spaces 2022

We’ve curated a list of experimental and artistic spaces that gathered our interest through the year and stand at the intersection of the arts, design and providing curated cultural experiences for the attendees. Some of our favourites from the year that was include:

47-A
47-A is a collaborative venture by Tara Lal and Mortimer Chatterjee of Chatterjee & Lal, who have been exploring the intersection between design and art, and Srila Chatterjee of Baro Market, who has been consistently giving a platform to designers from all disciplines. They are interested in creating engaging and well-curated programming that provokes conversation and interest in design beyond pure retail. Till now, design has really only been viewed within a store or shop context. As far as contemporary design is concerned, they are interested in nurturing careers and creating opportunities.

IFBE
Founded by the father-son duo Kamal and Arjun Malik of Malik Architecture, IFBE is a new experimental architecture and art space in a re-fashioned and conserved ice factory. Situated in Mumbai’s oldest dockyards of Ballard Estate, IFBE has been revamped into a space that blends its past with the future. The space houses exhibition spaces, a performance venue, The Banyan Tree Cafe, and Native Bombay, a restaurant that is set to open soon. The space is fluid, agile and changes depending on the nature of the cultural affair.

VILLA PALLADIO
The nine-room Villa Palladio Jaipur is a gracious country estate inspired by the fabulous traditions of the great hotels of the past. An impression never experienced anywhere else, as if suddenly transported into a dream: an atmosphere of beauty, perfection & surprise. Redefining hospitality in the 21st century they believe in the return of a grand simplicity rooted in guest‘s individual experience of delight.

TSUKI
Founded by Dishant Pritamani of The Daily All Day and designed by Keith Menon of Spiro Spero, Pune’s solar powered asian restaurant Tsuki features a zen garden, a skylight and macrame chandeliers. While the team knew this was going to be a space filled with long meals and a lot of conversation, they wanted to create a space that would break it all up; completely declutter the entire space, and make it feel open and inviting.

ART AND CHARLIE
Art and Charlie encourages its viewers to engage in interactions that go beyond art on the walls. Guests can expect thought-provoking and culture-centric theater or art performances, film screenings and workshops every weekend at the space. With an aim to increase the engagement of today’s generations with visual arts, they have put much thought into bringing a unique space that allows people to loosen up with some espresso and art. Art and Charlie’s cafe is operated by SUBKO, one of Mumbai’s most-cherished roasters.
