"Nilaya Anthology, India’s foremost immersive design and culture destination showcases, A Gathering of Light, a celebration of the festival of lights, centred around India’s rich culture of hosting wherein a select group of artists and makers from varied contexts, disciplines, and mediums create unique candlestands. Each piece stands as a testament to its creator’s distinctive point of view, bridging function and form to become a personal expression of their own artistic identity.
On view from September 27 to October 30, 2025, A Gathering of Light aims to elevate the candlestand beyond its traditional role, presenting it as a modern collectible and a future heirloom. More importantly, it serves as a platform to showcase designers whose voices contribute meaningfully to the contemporary design landscape. The exhibition seeks to highlight collectible works that transcend function, transforming candlestands into sculptural, expressive, and timeless pieces. Each piece in the exhibition is a one-off collectible piece created exclusively for this show, showcasing innovation in material, craftsmanship, and form.

'The lighting of a lamp in our culture signifies so much - hope, renewal, faith and festivity. At this time, throughout India, we use light as an expression of joy. Gathering of Light is a special show curated by Tanish Malji and Maithili Goradia of the Anthology creative team that showcases the work of young and exciting talent from India and overseas in diverse new materials and interpretations. It gives me the greatest pleasure to be able to bring this to Anthology this season.' says Anthology creative director Pavitra Rajaram.
The participating designers include Yaazd Contractor (The Back Studio), Claymen, Priyanka Shah, Nongothung Ezung, Shed, and Priti Pugalia (Craftboat), alongside other emerging names from India’s vibrant design landscape. Each artist showcases their own style, materials, and ideas, giving collectors and design lovers a special look at the future of collectible design.
Spanning Nilaya Anthology’s 100,000 sq. ft. design destination in Mumbai, Gallery 2 will host the exhibition, inviting visitors to experience each piece through a thoughtfully curated presentation.
These works will also be available for collectors to acquire, bridging the gap between functional design and collectible art.
As part of its growing role as a cultural hub, Nilaya Anthology continues to collaborate with both Indian and international talent, curating exhibitions that explore design’s intersection with culture and storytelling. A Gathering of Light reflects this ethos, reinforcing Mumbai’s position as a global design capital.

Since opening earlier this year, The Galleries at Anthology have demonstrated a unique versatility.
