Kamli Tech Panda x Kenzani

Delhi-based contemporary electronica producers Tech Panda x Kenzani’s take on old Indian folk songs crosses borders with their next release, ‘Kamli’. Set to release on London-based international label, Aluku Records – who first featured the Indian electronica duo on its world compilation, Aluku Records Various Compilation World Edition – ‘Kamli’ is the coming together of different sounds and styles.

Loved for their ability to make old Indian sounds talk a new modern language, ‘Kamli’ features Punjabi vocals with a French sermon-like sample on a percussive bassline, giving the track an atmospheric feel. “The emotion that we want to evoke most through our work is that of ‘nostalgia’ while honing our work with textures and vocals to create a rich and vibrant sound that is truly the best of both worlds, and we think we managed to achieve all that and more with ‘Kamli’, say Tech Panda and Kenzani of the track. “We were given all the creative freedom to take the track where we wanted to, making an experimental, deep folktronica production,” they add.

Tech Panda and Kenzani are one of India’s busiest electronica acts, performing in different corners of the country every month, but that doesn’t stop them from burning the midnight oil in the studio either. With a collaborative EP with Punjabi popstar Talwiinder – the first single of which was released ‘Heer’ to a warm reception by fans – in the works, Tech Panda and Kenzani plan to keep the releases coming at a steady pace.

“Our vision ahead is creating tracks that fit well on dancefloors across the world combining many different musical cultures and sounds, and collaborating with artists that really excite us as artists and fans,” they add.
