Every time we curate an edition of the bookazine, I am surprised by the discoveries I encounter along the way. Interacting with inspiring personalities and stepping into their world has been a highlight. Some I have met before and some for the first time. Artist, Curator, Scenographer, Writer, Rajeev Sethi encompassed me into his world and home, replete with stories, which was a delectable six-floor treasury of art, artefacts interactions, collections and tales from far and wide. The maestro of fashion Tarun Tahiliani, lets us in on his newest addition OTT— luxury pret that he brings into our daily lives. The master draper adds a modern, more relevant drape to his house. One of the most important contemporary artists of our time, Subodh Gupta gives us an insight into his interests that form his art and the artist he is today. Two award-winning films and filmmakers Reema Kagti of Superboys of Malegaon and Payal Kapadia of All We Imagine As Light share their thought, vision and artistry behind their extremely engaging and brilliant films. We also explore three diverse design disciplines, Gaurav Gupta in Fashion, Susmita Mohanty in Space and Khushnu Panthaki Hoof in Architecture and delve deep into how each, through their profound lenses, look at design today.
The debutants are raring to go with their storytelling. Mehak Jamal writes narratives of love, loss and connection in her debut book, L?al Kashmir i.e. Love and Longing in Kashmir. Kinshuk Surjan’s debut film Marching in the Dark explores the lives of widows of the farmers suicide crisis. And on the other side we have Yung Raja from Singapore making Southeast Asian hip-hop. The bilingual rapper is gaining accolades for his quick beats, clever lyrics and Tanglish discourse, seamlessly blending Western and Tamil influences in his music. Speculative designer Kalyani Tupkary’s practice involves craft, design and technology. She deconstructs The Alternative Calendar Project, her most path-breaking creation.
Designer and Stylist Savio Jon Fernandes and Photographer Tenzing Dakpa, fashion a visual narrative creating silhouettes on the promised land. The talented Adarsh Gourav gives us a sneak peak to his new film, quirks and everything in between. Photographer Rohit Chawla shares his relationship with literature and the evolution of the Quiet Portrait, walking us through Ernest Hemingway’s home in Havana. What’s Your Story? shines the spotlight
on a motley crew of five diverse promising talents, all making strides in their respective genres. And with that and much more we bring to you the yearend edition.
2025 is the year we turn 20. Lots of exciting announcements, interactions and stories coming your way. Until then—wishing you a stupendous year ahead.
