Places I Find You In

Places I Find You In Frizzell D’Souza and Abdon Mech

Places I Find You In, a song for longing, is for a memory you can’t quite place. It lives between acoustic folk and soft rock, unhurried and intricate, inducing nostalgia for something or someone you haven’t encountered yet.

The collaboration was happenstance. When Frizzell posted a demo on her story back in 2021, Abdon replied to it with a video of himself singing another verse. It was decided back then this would be a collaboration they did. In 2023, Frizzell visited him for the first time in his hometown of Nagaland when she played Hornbill Festival and absolutely fell in love with the hills. When it came to shooting a video for the song, there was only one place it could be set in.

Places I Find You In was shot entirely on location across Nagaland in the bazaars & hilltop cafes in Kohima and Dimapur, and the hills and quiet villages of Dzuleke. It follows a city girl who steps into an unfamiliar world and loses herself in it chasing a feeling she can't quite name. The lines between what is real and what is imagined blur slowly, until she can no longer tell the difference.

Releasing on 21st May, this is a cross-cultural collaboration that brings two ends of the country together. To know more about Frizzell and Abdon's music and creative process, read our interview with Frizzell here, and Abdon here.
