Italy’s Odd Sox International have made a practice of not staying still. The roaming ensemble has built a reputation for high-energy, brass-led sets that move through space as much as they move through sound, folding jazz, funk, and pop into an infectious, crowd-pulling rhythm. Part street parade, part live jam, their performances turn any setting into a shifting stage.
For a limited time, the band brings this restless energy to Louve in Delhi, where they are in residence several nights a week. Known for their roaming, deeply interactive performances, Odd Sox drift through the restaurant, transforming the space into something far more spontaneous and immersive than a typical night out. Set against Louve’s contemporary, European-inspired interiors and its focus on experiential dining, the collaboration feels instinctive.
How did the Odd Sox team first come together?
Odd Sox was born from the meeting of experienced musicians who had already been crossing paths in various international projects. Over time, we realized there was a very natural chemistry between us, not just musically, but on a personal level as well. The idea of ??creating a dynamic 'roaming' band… one that is intimate and close to the audience, emerged precisely from this spontaneous connection and a desire to bring music to different environments and cultures in a more lively and interactive way.
What is the story behind the name?
The name Odd Sox captures the band’s spirit perfectly: distinct, creative, and full of personality. Much like mismatched socks, each member brings their own unique musical identity, style, and influences to the table. Individually, we are unique, but together, we create something surprising and harmonious.
What is your songwriting like? Who brings what to the table?
Our repertoire is packed with global hits from every era, songs that have defined generations and evoke special moments in people’s lives. However, we perform them in a way that audiences have never heard before. We craft our own original arrangements, specifically tailored to the band’s concept, always striving to infuse them with greater energy, emotion, and joy. There is, indeed, a method behind our 'madness': each member contributes ideas, grooves, and dynamics until we strike a balance that sounds both unique and natural. We sing from the heart, directly to the hearts of our listeners, forging a genuine connection with the audience.
You’ve just started performing at Louve in Delhi. What all have you added to your set for your time in India?
Our roaming style creates a truly special and immersive atmosphere at Louve. By moving freely throughout the space, we get closer to the people, effectively breaking down the traditional barrier between the stage and the audience. The blend of funk, soul, and pop infuses the atmosphere with a vibrant yet sophisticated energy, transforming every moment into a lively musical experience. The audience doesn't merely listen, they participate, interact, and connect with the music in a spontaneous way.
What changes have you made to your repertoire to better connect with the Indian audience?
We draw upon our extensive experience to read the room and select just the right tracks for every moment, always delivering them with our own unique style and personality.
How do you view India’s vibrant music scene, from indie fusion to classical traditions and in what ways does it influence or inspire your musical settings?
Indian music is something that deeply fascinates us. Both its classical traditions and its more modern offshoots possess an impressive richness in terms of rhythm, harmony, and melody. This pure and genuine musicality serves as a constant source of inspiration for us, whether in how we approach rhythms, explore new dynamics, or craft musical moments that prioritize emotion and connection with the audience.
