'This March, driven by design innovation and a vision of creative exchange, SIKAO, a traveling art gallery, makes its official global debut with a two-day exhibition at the iconic IFBE, Ballard Estate, Mumbai, on March 7th–8th, 2026. Founded by Pinky Daga, a literature enthusiast, and her son, Kabbier Daga, a multi-disciplinary artist, the gallery features exclusive, never-before-seen collectibles from 47 national and international artists and designers. This inaugural showcase marks the beginning of SIKAO’s journey as an exclusive platform for art and design.
Being a nomadic gallery, having no fixed location, SIKAO is a travelling platform designed to move between major cities and global design hubs. Each exhibition is carefully curated to show how modern objects connect to deeper cultural stories. This global journey begins with its very first showcase titled Objects of Desire in Mumbai.
Objects of Desire brings together a global collective of 47 national and international artists working across ceramic, stone, metal, and textiles. Visitors at the exhibition will discover a curated world of rare lighting, handcrafted furniture, and experimental materials from celebrated names such as Paola Paronetto, Lucia Okanikova, Ek Kalakaar, Shailesh Rajput Studio, and KEPH Design Studio. What makes this showcase truly special is its focus on collectible design - exclusive, one-of-a-kind pieces that blur the line between functional objects and fine art. Every work on display is a masterclass in craftsmanship, offering a rare opportunity to see how traditional skills are being reimagined for a modern world.
Harshita Jhamtani
Designer Harshita Jhamtani showcases tactile ceramic forms that celebrate organic, hand-fluted textures. Length Breadth Height presents furniture crafted from the raw beauty of basalt stone and marble, complemented by Detee Homes’ luxury planters that redefine botanical function through architectural design. Shailesh Rajput Studio evokes the poetic dance of light and shadow through sculptural metal fixtures, alongside Mugen Home’s ethereal objects carved from solid alabaster and metal to capture a mineral glow.
While the name SIKAO, derived from the Chinese word, stands for ‘to contemplate,’ it serves as the gallery’s guiding philosophy. Founders Pinky and Kabbier Daga say, 'We don’t see objects as mere tools for utility; we see them as vessels of memory and emotion. With SIKAO, we wanted to create a space where a chair or a lamp isn't just seen—it’s felt.' Every work within the Objects of Desire collection is available for collectors to acquire, serving as a curated bridge between everyday utility and the world of high-end collectible design.
But the Mumbai show is just the first stop. In April 2026, a special selection of these works will travel to Italy for Milan Design Week. They will be featured in Alcova, known for turning historic, forgotten buildings into art spaces. Bringing SIKAO to Milan is a big moment for Indian design, showing the world how our creators are imagining the future of the modern home.'
