Champaca, Bangalore
Champaca, named after the Champa tree, is a serene, women-led independent bookstore tucked away in a quiet corner of the city. Known for its thoughtful curation, it champions diverse voices across genres. With its leafy café space and regular literary events, Champaca’s shelves take you in and keep you safe. Located on Edward Road, the bookstore also doubles-up as a library for children’s books and a cafe.

The Bookshop Inc, Delhi
A big heart and sharp curation is what the The Bookshop Inc offers. Known for its celebration of South Asian writing, the store pays homage to translations, feminist, queer, and Dalit literature, amongst others. Nestled in Lodhi Colony, it offers an intimate, welcoming space for reflection. It is more than easy to spend hours browsing their colourful shelves!

Pagdandi Bookstore, Pune
Located in Regent Plaza Mall, Pagdandi Bookstore Café in Pune is a relaxed, community-driven space where books, coffee, and creativity come together. Known for its laid-back vibe, it regularly hosts poetry readings, workshops, and open mic events, making it a beloved cultural hub for readers, writers, and artists in the city. They even host a book club where members gather every month to discuss their love for literature.

The Flying Goat, Goa
The special thing about The Flying Goat is this — they specialize in second-hand books. Regular music and film nights are not the only experience they offer; they also serve farm-to-table food. Leaping Windows, Mumbai
Leaping Windows in Versova, Mumbai is a cozy café-library hybrid stocked with over 2,000 comic books and graphic novels. It is located at three different levels, and the quiet basement reading room offers a small window to peace and quiet in loud, fast Mumbai. HITEC City is home to Off the Shelf, a bright, sister led bookshop started in 2024. Its warm, minimal design provides readers with a fresh, engaging experience. Although very new, the contemporary layout and inviting atmosphere have turned this into a favourite spot for many in the city. Their selection is home to literary fiction, fresh off the press.
